Magister Musicae is a new virtual encyclopaedia which specialises in music teaching.
It hosts more than 3,000 hours of high-quality master classes on video. These are catalogued according to the teacher, the work and the subjects which are covered in each class. They provide the perfect complement to music teaching.
The aims of Magister Musicae are two-fold:
To enable everyone to have access to the teachings of the great maestros via the internet.Hence prospective students are able to cross-check sources, tailor their own courses and make recommendations to other students.
To ensure the teachings of the great maestros are made available to prospective music students in the future.No doubt many people would give anything to have access to the teachings of Mozart, for example.
The Magister Musicae Project is led by Paloma O`Shea, who is director of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and president of the Fundación Albéniz. Several key music institutions from all over the world have collaborated in the project, such as:
